Position: Executive Director
Reports to: OC Arts President; OC Arts Board of Directors
Purpose of the Position: The Executive Director role provides collaborative leadership to advance the OC Arts mission. This role involves working in partnership with the OC Arts Board, volunteers, and community partners. Key responsibilities include promoting the arts within the community, securing financial resources, and managing OC Arts programming under the general direction of the Board of Directors.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Leadership and Management
- Serve in an executive capacity to the Board of Directors.
- Attend all monthly Board and committee meetings.
- Lead OC Arts functions and community-related events as required.
- Manage volunteers and interns to ensure adequate staffing and efficient program delivery.
- Prepare and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board.
Arts & Programming
- Oversee the successful production of all year-round programs and publications.
- Direct the curation, installation, marketing, and communication for various arts shows throughout the year.
- Develop and maintain contacts with community, regional, state, and national artists and arts organizations.
Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations of OC Arts.
- Design and schedule advertisements, posters, newsletters, social media posts, etc.
- Maintain OC Arts Website and Donor / Event Database.
- Draft and file all reports, applications, and documentation required to secure and maintain accreditations, insurance, and licenses (e.g., solicitation licenses).
Financials & Finance
- Manage the budget and ensure current and projected fiscal health.
- Formulate project budgets and work with the Executive Board to develop the annual budget.
- Oversee fundraising initiatives and events.
- Manage donor and supporter contact information.
- Help identify, cultivate, and solicit private, corporate, and public grants and funding.
- Identify, write, and submit grant proposals, as approved by the OC Arts board.
- Oversee tax reporting and audits in collaboration with the Executive Board.
Public Relations
- Serve as primary spokesperson for the organization and clearly articulate the mission and activities to the media, donors, community partners/leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate publicity and media relations for all OC Arts events.
- Maintain and foster positive relationships with The City of Orange City, the Orange City Chamber of Commerce, local schools, and other community groups.
- Write, design, layout, and print OC Arts communications for supporters and the general community.
- Develop and submit the OC Arts annual report to the City of Orange City.
- Identify regional and community resources and volunteers to further OC Arts goals.
- Promote OC Arts and its offerings to target audiences.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Proficiency with computer skills including, but not limited to, QuickBooks, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Canva, Square, and Meta Business Suite.
- Ability to model effective behaviors and skills, and to build morale among staff and volunteers.
- Ability to maintain effective communications, teamwork, and relationships with the Board and staff, and to advocate for OC Arts and foster commitment to its mission.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3-5 years of experience in the arts, management, non-profit, public administration, or a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience in researching and applying for public and private foundational grants.
- Public presentation skills, including impromptu and planned addresses.
- Valid driver's license; ability to lift 25 pounds; capable of using simple tools.
